More than a Car

Dorian Koza isn’t interested in selling his first car to just anyone.

To the 25-year-old car enthusiast, the 2012 Subaru STI was his dream car.

“I fell in love with that car back in high school,” Koza said. “Getting rid of it isn’t as easy as selling a used phone.”

While Koza would prefer to keep it and upgrade to the 2020 model of the same car, it doesn’t make sense financially. Looking to move onto bigger things, he said he’s excited about an upgrade but that the decision to sell hasn’t been as easy.

“I would hate to sell it to someone who would treat it like a toy,” Koza said.

Unlike many car enthusiasts whose love of cars is influenced by family or friends, Koza’s passion emerged entirely on his own.

“Really just the sound that the car makes and the way it looks is all that it took back in high school,” Koza said.

Drawn to the sound, factory power and all-wheel drive for Canadian winters, Subaru is Koza’s first choice of car manufacturer.

“They don’t blend in,” Koza said.

With custom modifications including gold wheels, a new exhaust and a blow off valve, Koza doesn’t foresee any difficulties selling the car in a pandemic.

“Perhaps test drives will be a little hoop but otherwise people are still looking to spend money” Koza said.

While a possible expansion to the province-wide stay-at-home order could make selling more difficult, Koza is determined to sell to a worthy buyer.

“I’m trying to do my best to make sure it goes to someone who is as passionate about these cars as I am.”
